PORSHA HAD BEEN HAVING A VERY LONG WEEK. She had worked five days straight, and even alternating between the stage and bartending, one could only stay in a night club for so long before it got very. very exhausting. But, it was Saturday, and Porsha was off. And she would be damned if she was going anywhere near a bar all day. If she did drink, she would drink at home, where there weren't sweaty guys and drunk girls everywhere.
But before any of that, her first order of business was some retail therapy. The good thing about working so many hours was that she had earned a very handsome paycheck, and had plenty of money to blow on clothes, shoes, and Pier 1 Imports, her favorite knicknack store. Nothing was going to stress her out today. Nothing at all. And just to make sure that nothing was going to stress her out, because she tended to stress out just by being alone, she had invited Naamah. She didn't know the other girl very well, but she worked at the club as well and they had gotten along backstage. So Porsha had texted her on the way to the mall, and said if she wanted to shop, to meet her at the food court. Not that Porsha particularly liked human food, but she did love her iced coffee, even though the caffiene barely affected an always-alert vampire.
Her blue eyes, tinged to a light purple shade by blood, scanned the tables, looking for the woman she was expecting. It was only 12:30, which was actually quite early for a vampire to be out, but it was a cloudy day, and Porsha had worn a long coat until she had reached the underground parking garage to keep whatever solar rays might peek through from touching her extremely sensitive skin. The last thing she needed was for an arm to burst into flame in the middle of Chicago. It would heal, of course, but she didn't fancy being on the 6 o'clock news as the first "out" vampire. No, the supernatural world would present themselves all together. She just had to wait. And when you had waited for eternity, a few weeks really wasn't a big deal, Porsha thought as she sipped her coffee again.
